Long sunny days, sweet lemonade, and watermelon in the park. There is only one thing that could make an already great season even better: Summer Fun at The Eastside Montessori School!
A balance of scientific inquiry and joyful exploration…
From an early age, children are asking questions about nature and wanting to know more and more about their world. Our Montessori classroom offers the keys for the young child to begin learning about nature and the world around them through the classification of plants and animals, the variety of animal and plant nomenclature, and the geography of plants and animals around the world. This is our base for exploration before we take our interests outside.
Our typical day begins with a gathering to hear a story and sing songs before the children start their independent work and daily lessons going on throughout the Montessori classroom. Veteran students will continue their work in language, math, geography, botany, art, and practical life. Our new students will be making friends and becoming familiar with our Montessori classroom. Once a week we’ll collect our class efforts and make a fruit salad or, perhaps, bake a pizza.
We will end our day with outdoor play or a nature walk to Bovee Park, and then a picnic for those staying for lunch. On Fridays, we’ll get out and about our community gathering all for a field trip to the zoo, the beach, or the farm for blueberry picking.
The Eastside Montessori School offers a Summer Program for children age 2 1/2 through 6 years. A minimum 2 week commitment is required for new students.
Please contact the school for more information relating to the 2012 Summer Program.
